Some of my thoughts from this week's show:
-enjoyed the storytelling of cody trying to mind game jericho by arriving late on purpose. thought some of the talking bits between cody and tony went too long. also thought they didn't do enough of jericho waiting on stage when codys song was playing, dude just came out regularly and jericho essentially didnt have to wait at all.
-The arm break scene was kind of weird. The level of Dustin's selling he should have just stayed there for paramedics. There should have been paramedics from backstage who could have ran there in the time it happened on the big Tron. Should have never gotten to the point to where Dustin has recovered enough to get up and be helped away.
-the rick and morty shyt reeked of WWE. I understand Adult Swim worked a deal with TNT for this, but my god can you figure out another way to promote the show. It made that whole team come off as geeks, and entirely the approach WWE would have taken.
-I did like however the wrestlers having fun with their attire tonight, like Kenny Omega. The difference is he's not wearing a mask and a coat that is so impractical to wrestling. Entirely different thing than the Ricky and Morty promotion though.
-I know this is against the general perception and Meltzer loves him, but I don't see ANYTHING in Adam Page. And I'm not talking about the "they dont tell us anything about him" gripe, he's obviously a cowboy gimmick. (non bad-ass version of James Storm) He just doesn't have any charisma to me. Solid in the ring of course, but I don't want to see him pushed anywhere near the main event at this point.
-Would have liked to see the "Inner Circle" member Sammy get the win here with help from his cronies instead and protect all of those members until they can lose on a PPV
-they seemed to have had one of the LAX member drop their "mad dog" mannerisms, which were very visible in their Jericho introduction promo. I hated it and think both members should just have street mannerisms, so good on them for that.
-I liked the way they are portraying Brandi as being a master manipulator and has Kong as her puppet. Gives her more character. They need to chill and be careful not to go too deep into the Lucha Underground mythical creatures territory in these vignettes though.
-I absolutely hate how they are just going right into "life imitates art" storyline with Moxley. So instead of him having fresh air in a great new environment, he's already disgruntled and bitter at the office? You might as well quit here too and try your luck again with a different promotion.
-I would have chose the Lucha Bros as the first champs, but I'm a huge mark for them so we'll see where they go with SCU.
5/10 their worst show yet
