Kind of a useless fight. Sure, it looked like Usyk ain't gonna be able to do shyt against the real top dogs in the division due to his lack of power but I'm not convinced this fight was going to show us anything worth a damn.

He clearly needs at least 1 or 2 fights against legit competition to test him out. No need to throw him out there against the top of the division to get a big payday yet :manny:

Like the angles and ways he throws his punches and combos. Looking like a Cruiser/heavyweight Andrade but no need to slow burn, put him against a fringe top 10 guy next .

There’s no point rushing him, let him adjust for a while first. If Ruiz wins the AJ match could let him go in because he’d be favourite so it’s a risk worth taking. He’d likely outpoint Ruiz. Fighting AJ they may as well do a deal, sign a contact for the fight at a later date since they are with the same promotional company, let AJ handle the Pulev fight and then meet up again after Uysk’s had a few more fights. To me it makes more sense to step up in levels a bit first, he doesn’t need mad fights but maybe 2 more, each 1 stepping up before going for a championship fight. I think he’d be willing to do it now cause of the type of fighter he is though.

holyfield would have chewed up and spit out the guy usyk fought tonight.

They are completely different fighters, only thing in common is jumping up in weight. Holyfield had more power and had a more muscular build (some say due to PED's but I don't know for sure). Usyk is more technique than power, people say about "tippy tappy shyt" but that's part of his style, to change up and hit at different levels of power and to figure out the opponent. He's not tapping like that because that's all he can do, it's part of his strategy and keeps the opponent guessing and on edge, it's unpredictable and works in his advantage. His style is to make someone quit, he's similar to Loma in some senses, intact I think Loma's father may have trained him at some points and may be by his side for some of the bigger fights again. He just made a much bigger man quit with a lot of rounds to go, he did it by consistently landing shots, he worked the body and the head and you could visibly see Witherspoon dejected. You could see him giving up as the fight went on. He knew he couldn't last and a stoppage was inevitable so he didn't want anymore. Usyk has his own style, him and Hollyfeild both achieved remarkable things at Cruiserweight. Can Usyk do it at heavyweight? We don't know yet, it will be a hard ask because the top heavyweights are much bigger now. He has the skills though, he could out point most people but if he gets caught he probably could be knocked out too or the fight stopped. Points wise he should be able to beat most people. It will be interesting who he fights next, if it's Ruiz he could be a world champion soon, it's even possible he could beat AJ. He has a chance in both of those fights, AJ would probably need a knockout to beat Usyk, Ruiz also because Usyk would be hitting him and moving the whole fight. Ruiz isn't super tall either so it mitigates some of the size advantage. I'd certainly bet on Usyk vs Ruiz but you never know.
