Bivol was constantly forcing him to reset and break his rhythm all fight. Bivol is just too smart and disciplined to pressure in Beterbeast's "normal" ways, so you end up chasing him.

Although Bivol is using energy moving, chasing an opponent while being reset constantly kills you too.
