From our vantage point it does appear that the sun goes around the earth. :yeshrug:

Maybe these people just managed to not pay attention to anything ever.

and this is a very important thing to understand about evidence
sometimes an observation can have multiple legitimate and mutually exclusive theoretical explanations, including the null hypothesis
it is important to consider them all and then devise scrutinizing and delineating questions or experiments to find the true cause of an observation

like when folks say they saw a miracle, well are there other explanations for the observation besides a miracle? quite possibly!

Say bro, what's the significance behind your screen name :beli:

I'm of The Nation of Gods and Earths. The same nation Brand Nubian, Rakim, Masta Killa, RZA, Cee Knowledge(doodlebug of digable planets), Lakim shabazz, King Sun and others are apart of. We teach that the black man is God, the black woman is Earth and that mathematics is the key to understanding your relationship to the universe. Nothing just happens. Everything goes through a process to be born, and the first principle of math is Knowledge. Peace.

Does the Earth go around the sun, or does the sun go around the Earth?

When asked that question, 1 in 4 Americans surveyed answered incorrectly. Yes, 1 in 4. In other words, a quarter of Americans do not understand one of the most fundamental principles of basic science. So that’s where we are as a society right now.

The survey, conducted by the National Science Foundation, included more than 2,200 participants in the U.S., AFP reports. It featured a nine-question quiz about physical and biological science and the average score was a 6.5.

And the fact that only 74 percent of participants knew that the Earth revolved around the sun is perhaps less alarming than the fact that only 48 percent knew that humans evolved from earlier species of animals.

Here’s the thing, though: Americans actually fared better than Europeans who took similar quizzes — at least when it came to the sun and Earth question. Only 66 percent of European Union residents answered that one correctly.

We won’t know the full results of the survey—or its methodology—until the National Science Foundation delivers its report to President Obama and U.S. lawmakers. But on this evidence we may end up getting a new national holiday out of this: Spread the Word That the Earth Revolves Around the Sun Day.

what are the odds that 1 in 4 Americans live in the South? :ohhh:

Very interesting point, the people within your inner circle are more than likely reasonably educated. The problem is once you step outside that circle, you'll soon realize how much information and "common" knowledge you probably take for granted due to your concentrated interactions.

I know I do this sometimes, especially in regards to dating...

Dating can really discourage you sometimes, people are fukkin stupid and it's hard for me to deal with birdbrain bytches in a serious manner so I treat em like children. Thankfully, I never heard a chick or anyone for that matter tell me some stupid shyt like the sun revolves around the Earth.

it sucks knowing that the degree status of a chick doesn't matter either :to:

There is a great Wittgenstein quote getting at the same thing you are:

Meeting a friend in the corridor, Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951) said: "Tell me, why do people always say that it was natural for men to assume that the sun went around the earth rather than the earth was rotating?"

His friend said: "Well, obviously, because it just looks as if the sun is going around the earth."

To which the philosopher replied: "Well, what would it look like if it had looked as if the earth were rotating?"

Not knowing this information is not gonna effect any of those people's lives, if your not trying to be an astronomer why would even need to know that
people don't need to know every little thing or every thing, plus most people forget what they learn in school because they don't use it in application
most Americans don't even realize that Washington D.C. is not even apart of the America and is a sovereign state
or know that were seven presidents before George Washington, at the end of the day what does it matter

Id like to see a follow-up question on what percentage of these people are strongly religious aka morons. Probably clarify a lot with regards to these seemingly shocking statistics.
