The question is not the clearest it could be though... I'd find a question like 'is the earth in the center with the sun revolving around it, or is the sun in the center with the earth revolving around it' easier to visualize

Very interesting point, the people within your inner circle are more than likely reasonably educated. The problem is once you step outside that circle, you'll soon realize how much information and "common" knowledge you probably take for granted due to your concentrated interactions.

Pretty much. Part of who you are is because of the people you associate with. In fact this is even amplified b/c of how the education system is structured. All of my friends now, I've known since middle school but the only reason I knew them in middle school was because we were all put in the "smart classes" with each other. I started the middle school in a completely different class but after about the first month of school they changed it and put all of the smart people in the same classe(s). From there the friends I met as well as myself even further segregated ourselves by the high school we chose to goto. None of us went to the high school we were supposed to goto, we tested into a different high school. I always wondered how different my social circle would be had my middle school not segregated us from jump.

That would be better too. But they said "Does the Earth go around the sun, or does the sun go around the Earth?" Like I said if I just picked up the phone and you asked me that I might find it a bit unclear

I'm sayin tho, the sun doesn't go around the Earth the Earth goes around the sun. It's one thing if someone randomly calls and asks that but if they say it's a survey then I don't see what's unclear about the question.

I never know how to feel about surveys like this. People are absolutely stupid, but I hate projecting these surveys onto society as a whole. Not once in my life have I ever been surveyed for any sort of study like this, nor anybody I know. I couldn't tell you one person I know who doesn't know this very basic fact.
