It wasn't just Eddie's death. He experienced something like 4 or 5 deaths in his wrestler's circle between Eddie's death and his murder-suicide. Dude wasn't going to be mentally healthy at all after that.

We should really do a watch party of that Excellent Adventures shoot. It's just 3 hours of London and Kendrick, drunk and high off their ass (because they apparently wouldn't do the shoot without Highspots buying them a 30 pack of Yuengling and a bunch of weed) burying dozens of people and theorizing wildly about everything. It's fantastic stuff.

The Benoit stuff was always strange. People are always like

maybe it was the steroids
maybe it was the head trauma
maybe it was the grief of losing friends

Not saying that stuff doesn't contribute, but sometimes people are just mentally off. And just because they act normal to a fan for a few minutes, or seem normal backstage, does not mean there ain't some shyt going on upstairs. Tons of serial killers flew under the radar for years because they seemed normal. Charming, even.

It gets even weirder later in that shoot when Kendrick said Benoit tried to hook him up with a Hooters girls and he wanted to watch them fukk while hiding in a closet.

I think he may have just been a deadly combination of a$$hole and mentally ill. Being mentally ill is not an excuse for some of the shyt he was doing. And to a very minor degree that carny locker room culture from back in the day was the perfect place for his bullshyt to be written off as part of the game.
