At this point if it doesn't release I don't think it was a scam.
I just think they painted themselves in a corner and arrogantly thought it would compile no issues more quickly than it has. If it doesn't come out by midnight it's because they keep pulling to fix error's in the build and it doesn't get pushed fast enough.
Justin said on twitter it's been compiling fine everywhere they are just resolving on travis. Something keeps coming up when they compile on there.

There build 624 had no errors. They decided to pull it to change something. Then 625 and 626 have had errors. They would probably be better off just releasing 624 and fixing whatever it is after.
