I currently own 1 BTC. What is the realistic expectation of bitcoin reaching 100k? I remember hedgefund companies saying they expect it to reach 100k by the end of the year. Is that still a possibility?

I think it continues but could go either way with September being a questionable month.
8, 11, 4, and 13% going back to 2017. Thats the drop in market cap for September in crypto. So 8% 2020 to 13% 2017. Now in 2017, 26, 64, and 93% gains were the next 3 months. In 2018 it dipped until February and started to go back up so took a while. 2019 was a bit stable for a bit for maybe 8 months and then started going back up. In 2020 it went down 8.60% and was around 350 billion. It ran off 7 green candles of at least 10%, dipped back down a bit and is currently higher than the closing mark of the highest candle close which was April. And its already up 13% this month. The only month where market cap was higher was in May. If it sustains above 2.15 trillion, strong chance of a run to 3 within a year the latest. Everything pretty much following an upward trend right now. Plus El Salvador making BTC legal tomorrow and one bank already started accepting some crypto as payment. I doubt we see red this month but if we do, next few months gonna get us back higher than we are now.
It'll be close if it follows its current support trend. Its been kind of a slow gainer but could pick up at any moment. Worst case-it hits 100k and is around it the EOY, maybe between 95k-100k.
