Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald didn’t indicate that such a plan was in the works, but did note that the Heat will likely look at every possible avenue to improve the team:

“I expect all realistic options to at least be explored, including the Mike Conley scenario with Memphis.”

There are a number of reasons why Conley figures to be available, the most prominent being that the Grizzlies own the second overall pick in June’s NBA draft. That puts them in position to take Murray State University point guard Ja Morant to replace Conley, who turns 32 in October.

Another chief reason why the Grizzlies are poised to move Conley is because of the huge amount of money he’s due over the next two seasons. As a result of the five-year, $153 million contract he signed with Memphis in July 2016, he’ll be paid $32.5 million for the 2019-20 season and $34.5 million the following year.

That’s a steep price for a player who has earned one Second Team All-NBA berth and has never played in an All-Star game. While a deal for Conley would likely allow the Heat to deal away some of their own bad contracts to make the deal work, it would still take a huge chunk out of their 2020-21 salary cap.

However, those drawbacks don’t appear to be scaring away Heat team president Pat Riley.

Conley is still capable of making a major contribution to the Heat. This past season, he played in 70 games for the Grizzlies and averaged 21.1 points, 6.4 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. The question is whether he’s worth the price.

What's with all the Conley talk? dont know much about him but i seen enough to know i dont see anything special about him. I dont see why we dont go into full rebuild mode.
  • Dump Dragic and Whiteside on whoever will take them without hanging another huge contract around our necks. I know that's not an easy task but not impossible.
  • See if there are any takers for Deion or James Johnson
  • Let Bustise run the show for another year. His stans still have hope and it's not like we have better options. Give them what they want so they can shut up once and for all or pound their chest and say they were right if he balls out. Worst thing that can happen is he sucks and we suck and are in the lottery on a year where we own our pick.

Suns Open To Trading No. 6 For Veteran Point Guard

Jun 3, 2019 10:12 AM

The Phoenix Suns have told other NBA teams they are open to trading out of the No. 6 overall slot for a veteran guard.

The Suns have been searching for a starting point guard for several seasons.

The top two point guards in this draft, Ja Morant and Darius Garland, are expected to be off the board before the Suns select at No. 6.

This is chatter but Memphis is okay taking back the one year deals to get rid of Conley is the word

Spo and Riley supposedly love Conley and actually have wanted him for years

So winslow at the point experiment is over? Or do they feel we dont need a backup pg cause he can handle it when conley sits? I dunno bout that. Rather let white and drag expire or be trade bait for a disgruntled star at the deadline

It's probably been posted before but this is a great interview.

Haslem tells a hilarious story about how Wade got his car stolen. Haslem makes an offer to Wade to find it. Wade tells him he only really cares about the chain that was in the car. Haslem makes a few phone calls and they ended up finding the car but not the chain. After a few more calls Haslem tells Wade that he could get the chain back but he just has to be okay with how they get it back. Wade was like naw that's okay, i don't need the chain. :russ:
