Well for a back up thats ok but god forbid bam or Kelly gets injured then we gotta give this guy 25-30 min. If he can just stay out the paint and chuck some 3s maybe he can be serviceable

:francis:
There is always that risk on any team :manny: I dont think we brought him in hoping to run him 35 min/g but shyt happens.

I wonder who he is taking shots at?Dragic? :ohhh:
Probably a shot at Dion too
Dude will be a legit third option for Portland
I don’t think he ever really had a role on offense remember the reports of them not running any plays for him.
No more who is the number 1 option is it Dragic or J-Rich or Dion
Guards who don’t no how to play with a big man or get him the ball beside Wade & McGruder

He always looked better with Wade on the floor.

Agreed. Winslow kept him fed too but he looked like an entirely different player when Wade was out there. Wade was like the only one who could run the pick and roll consistently with Whiteside or Bam.

This was one of my favorite plays

:wow:

It always seemed that whenever Dragic ran a pick and roll with Whiteside, they would always run into each other.

Tho I've lowered my expectations that he'll be something special in the league but I still have slim hope Winslow will take a leap this season. This being Bam's 3rd year and Whiteside gone it's put up or shut up time for Adebayo so let's see if. No more fukking excuses

Miami Heat: The key to 2019-20 lies in the development on Bam, Winslow
-by Michael Saenz

The Miami Heat made waves when they signed Jimmy Butler in free agency, but the key to success for the team in 2019-20 lies within Bam Adebayo and Justise Winslow’s development
Pat Riley and the Miami Heat, once again, managed to pull a rabbit out of their hat via free agency, inking Jimmy Butler (via sign-and-trade) in a summer where they didn’t even have cap space. However, the key to their success as a team during the 2019-20 season might not even lie in their most recent acquisition.

In fact, you can make the argument that the key to their upcoming season lies in the development – or lack thereof – from Justise Winslow and Bam Adebayo. After moving Josh Richardson in the sign-and-trade deal that netted them Jimmy Butler, Winslow, and Bam are the two most talented young players on the team’s roster.

And both, entering the 2019-20 season, will be playing vital – and extended – roles. Bam will be the starting center or power forward this year, while Winslow will be playing big minutes everywhere on the floor – no to mention that he should be the team’s starting point guard on opening night.

The Heat knows what it’s going to get from Jimmy on any given night – you can make an argument that he was the Philadelphia 76ers‘ best player in the playoffs, averaging 19 points, six rebounds and five assists on 45 percent shooting from the field.

Butler is going to fill the void that Dwyane Wade will leave in that locker room, in terms of production and leadership. He’s going to be the driving force most nights, and the closer that this team sorely missed when Wade left the organization.

However, even assuming that the Heat gets a maximized Jimmy Butler, their ceiling is still limited to a 5-8 seed in the playoffs. That ceiling could change in the event that Bam and Winslow – or even just one of them – takes the next step in their progressional ladder.

Bam appears the most likely of the two, considering that most don’t believe Winslow’s ceiling – because of his erratic shooting – is essentially peak Andre Iguodala. And in today’s NBA, it’s not as great as it seems.

As for Bam, though, the sky is the ceiling. Bam is a 6-foot-9 forward/center that can handle the ball, initiate the offense, is a capable and versatile defender and is quickly developing a polished offensive repertoire.

Some are even projecting Bam’s next step to mirror the jump that Pascal Siakam saw this past season, averaging 17 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in his breakout season for the Toronto Raptors.

Should Bam come anywhere near close to the player that Siakam was this past season, the Heat could quickly pivot from an interesting potential playoff team in the East to a true rabble-rouser.

While the Miami Heat did well by adding Jimmy Butler in free agency – again, in summer where they literally had no money to spend – this upcoming season will come down to the progression of Justise Winslow and Bam Adebayo.

Mark Cuban Explains Snag In Trade With Heat
August 4th, 2019 at 11:41am CST • By Arthur Hill
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban blames “miscommunication” for a failed trade that would have helped Jimmy Butler get to Miami, writes Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald.

Dallas attempted to get involved with the sign-and-trade on June 30 shortly after Butler reached an agreement with the Heat. The reported deal would have sent Goran Dragic to the Mavericks, although several media outlets later claimed Dallas believed it was getting Kelly Olynyk and Derrick Jones Jr. Miami would have needed to include another player to make that deal work financially and wasn’t interested in parting with Jones, according to Jackson.

“As far as we can tell, it was just miscommunication,” Cuban stated in an email. “… We get along great with the Heat and have done many deals with them. Wires just got crossed somehow.”

Cuban added that his team respects Dragic, but had plans for its cap space that would have been affected by taking on his $19.2MM salary. The Mavs believe they have addressed their point guard needs by acquiring Delon Wright on a three-year, $29MM deal in a sign-and-trade with the Grizzlies.

“I was sitting in the room full of people when the call was discussed and we put the trade we thought was happening on our board,” Cuban explained of the misunderstanding with Miami. “We later discussed trade kickers and added a player to make it work. They obviously thought they heard something else.”

The Heat eventually acquired Butler in a four-team deal involving the Sixers, Trail Blazers and Clippers.

After the original trade collapsed, the Heat told Dragic’s representatives they would try to trade him to complete the Butler deal. However, that need disappeared when Portland offered to take Hassan Whiteside‘s hefty salary, and Dragic’s camp was informed that he will remain with the team “barring something unforeseen.” Heat officials haven’t commented on their negotiations with Dallas.
