The longer this goes on, I don't think a deal gets done. We have a solid team with a closer. Start this season with this group.

Those of you that are still fighting the idea of Russell Westbrook coming to Miami are wasting your time fighting it.

If they are already discussing it that means Riley wants him there. It's just a matter of what we'll have to pay for him. So you can argue and fight about what you willing to give up for him all you want. That is fine. But fighting the idea of him coming here, period, Is a waste of your breath/fingertips
Fight the battles you can win.:yeshrug:
And don't get it twisted, Pat Riley has never been known to stand "pat" for long. No pun intended. He wants Russell and Jimmy in Miami so he can lure another big-name star to Miami in a year or 2. Riley wants to go out with a bang + You all know Micky doesn't like to pay the luxury tax unless there's a plan to compete four championship.

Not only Riley, I read that Spo was pushing for it too. They'll get him eventually, I think

Riley is staying Pat, pun intended. Dragic's expiring contract + 2 vets. You're not touching any of the youngins:myman:

no rush...we got all summer
No, we do not have all summer.:stopitslime:
At some point somebody may step up and give them a better deal than what we have to offer.
Maybe I'm paranoid but I'm just afraid someone in the East will get greedy, jump the gun and go for it. Say Toronto or NY or somebody.

As far as Oklahoma City goes, one of the issues with the deal is that the only want to part ways with Russell if they get the opportunity to get out of the tax. The current players that Miami is offering will not get them out of the text. So Miami is looking for a 3rd team to get involved and take on one of those salaries that Oklahoma City does not want. Oklahoma City would take 2 vet contracts but not 3. It would be easy to just send Dragic to Dallas as one of the contracts and give OKC the other 2 but seems like OKC wants Dragic since his is an immediately expiring deal whereas the others (Dion, JJ) have 2 more years. Problem is the only reason why Dallas would want to get involved is to take Dragic for themselves.

At least that's what I read from Somewhere and honestly it makes a lot of sense.

Miami is hard capped for the entire year so it can only take Russell's contract and anyone else that Oklahoma City wants to get rid of would have to go elsewhere because we cannot fit it under our cap. Meanwhile Oklahoma City also is limited in the amount of contracts they are willing to take in because if they're not going to compete for a championship why would they want to stay in the position to be paying the luxury tax. It's a rather complex deal right now but went Riley and Micky and Andy involved I would not be surprised if they pull it off.
