I knew Jericho would bring the psychology and Kenny would bring the workrate, was more concerned about them each being able to do both (moreso Jericho being able to keep up) Man did they both deliver. The no-DQ really helped this match as they were able to go outside and do some brawling to reduce the pressure of putting on an in-ring only clinic. Irvine fukking brought it. I was not expecting him to take the hits as full on as he did. My concern with Kenny was that he would set up too many set spots and maybe throw off the psychology/story, but he didn't. shyt just worked. Was pleasantly surprised.

Just heard about all the blade drama, I didn't notice it. I just assumed the 4 shots into the chair were called spots :dead: :dead:

I also busted a gut when Chris laid out Red Shoes outside then proceeded to throw his own kin into the Walls of Jericho :laff: :laff:

As for the main, I don't know.. Okada seemed disinterested in this one. I know he's more laid back but he just seemed to be missing, something. Crowd was hot as hell for Naito though, I thought it was his time now, which is saying alot since they mainly sit on their hands. That pop when he hit that second Destino :wow:

@Jmare007 @Beautiful Bobby Eatin @Honga Ciganesta @3Rivers @Don Ibiza Ibrahimovic @Ace of the Metropolitan @MightyHealthy

Work's largely kept me out of the New Japan loop, so maybe one of you guys (or the other puro followers on the board, apologies for not tagging y'all) can explain to me why Gedo thought it was a good idea to rehash what was a kind of unnecessary storyline when it first happened (the Okada/Tanahashi WK9-10 story) in a context which renders it even more pointless, stupid, and possibly damaging to the company.

I mean, you already know how I feel about Gedo's booking in general and what I think about Okada retaining. But, I can only see two ways this "made sense" for Gedo.

1) Naito is like Nakamura to him. Let's try to forget the fact that Naito never got an Ace run like Nakamura and is more over than Shinsuke ever was, but basically, Gedo prefers having him as 1B drawing smaller buildings and freshen things up as much as possible in the upper midcard. Naito doesn't need the belt to draw so let's just keep milking Okada as much we can while Naito holds the fort underneath.

2) For some reason I can't really understand, he thinks the WK9 to WK10 useless, year long, and complete mess of a story that was Tanahashi vs Okada was a success, or at least not a failure (even though it was). So he sees matchups like Okada vs Ibushi, Okada vs Omega IV and whoever beats Okada vs Naito for the main belt as big drawing cards that are worth the wait for El Ingobernable to get his turn.

No matter how you see it though, it's a short sighted decision because it delays character progress for Naito - the fact they are running with "his evolution as a character is still not ready" is fukking hilariously tragic to me - and keeps statu quo when he had a red hot guy that could freshen things up on top. As I've said before, there's no safer bet to beat Okada than Tranquilo.

I also think he's expecting to land Bryan Danielson for WK 13 and beyond. That way he can have a much stronger card for WK 13 than he had for WK 10, so his obsession with delaying things doesn't result in another failure of a Dome show.

fukk Gedo:nakamuramiddlefinger:

Word to @Jmare007

I hate being right breh :mjcry:

Now more than ever New Japan is WWE status to me. in the sense that I'm only gonna keep up with results and only check stuff that catches my interest after reading what the fukk happened. This lazy motherfukker has beaten the fan out of me.

Thank god I have Strong Big Japan and now All Japan to keep the feeling alive :whew: :lawd:

So All Japan really did bring back that feeling:patrice:

I tried watching one of their shows from 2016 and was bored to tears. Thankfully Zeus came through and rekindle the interest:dame:. It just feels like the same ole shyt from different countries. It's like wrestling of all promotions have the same carny code that legit pisses off wrestling fans, but pleases the ones that are not woke.

So what do you guys see coming up in the next few months? Who possibly is there left for Okada besides Jericho or another outsider? Do they rerun Okada/Naito at New Beginning? Does Naito go after the US title? I assume White/Tanahashi will have a rematch with White winning and no one caring. Goto will probably be defending his title against like...idk, Cody or ZSJ or some shyt. Bucks and R3K will have a match on every card this year. What's Ishii going to be up to?

Future looks kind of bleak for this year unless there are some big surprises tonight, tbh.

Ibushi and Omega as the next big defenses, possibly 1 more filler one against an undercard guy getting a big shot. Not sure if he's gonna give the US shows a big defense. At this point I think he should just book Okada vs Omega and give the title to Kenny here, it would be unprecedented on many levels, but it would at least create some sort of spark.

I honestly can see this going like 2015, with Okada dropping the belt to someone and Naito beating that guy so he heads to WK 13 as champ, while Okada wins the G-1 :scust: :snoop:

He could also try to give Naito another shot soon, this time with some sort of stipulation so the stakes are higher and Naito gets his belt.

Either way, there's no business move that makes more money and more sense than Tranquilo winning last night.

Product wise, the only moves that could grab my interest are things that will never happen so I'm not even gonna bother. I hope some dope shyt happens but this is WWE status right now :russell:

Shuji and Suwama are tag champs

Joe Doering having 10 minute Triple Crown defenses

Kento Miyahara being the best performer in Japan

Big Japan lending talent and OF COURSE elevating the product as a whole and having fun matches

Nomura growing before our eyes and becoming a dope wrestler

Champions Carnival coming in a couple of months

Even if Gedo is stupid enough to believe that, the main problem is his plan will never work. Even if they go with Kota as champ (they wont), I doubt they would get the desired reation to Okada being dethroned.

And even if he does lose, what do you do with Okada after? Does he job out against the guys hes already beaten or does he roll over everyone in another redemption storyline?

I dont see a single way any of this works going forward so i think im out until the G1 or so. Big Japan is about to hold me down for the winter and spring :takedat:

Agreed.

Gedo would need to leave his comfort zone and either book a big interpromotional feud to keep Okada relevant and engaged in interesting shyt, or finally do Stable Wars that are worth a damn. And those two things are as likely as Ibushi or Shibata before his injury getting the main belt :mjlol:

Breh I'll @ you for every Big Japan match worth a watch, and you already have the archive to enjoy the piffness from the past :myman:

A hologram of Shinya Hashimoto? Other than that I got nothing right now:francis:

@Don Ibiza Ibrahimovic @Beautiful Bobby Eatin @3Rivers can't wait for y'alls reaction to this :feedme: I wonder if @Honga Ciganesta will watch this in 2023 :wow:
Already gave my thoughts on the main event result:francis: as for some other thoughts

-I don't know who told Okada to rock those Eddy Gordo pants but:francis: I joked about the hologram of Shinya Hashimoto challenging him next.....maybe he's dropping hints:leostare:

-My favorite spot of the night may have been Suzuki's hanging sleeper on Goto. Also liked Suzuki committing hair seppeku rather than have someone else do it:heh:

-I was hoping Time Bomb went over in the Junior 4-way. I think the crowd was pulling for him too:francis:

-I enjoyed Cody/Ibushi. Glad Kota went over. I think Cody had a better showing this year than last year at WK

-Jericho/Omega was great. Nice to see a proper Walls of Jericho and Y2J was having fun heeling it up. Best he looked in years. They did a great job working around his limitations

-I wish Sho and Yoh returned with a different tag name. I like them but Roppongi 3K is too Techno Team 2000 to me. It's kinda corny
