I've been convinced something was up since the Bucks and Cody discussed New Year resets like they were a done deal.

AEW's fanservice and wheel spinning would make even more sense, now. As would writing Cody out early

Then NJPW seems ready to leave AXS, with no eagerness to establish a landing spot anywhere else.

Most importantly, facing 2020 without a TV deal (a major regression and setback for any other venture), they made this announcement quite confidently and abruptly.

Why have a TV show when you can increase the prestige of IWGP titles by featuring and defending them on AEW TV?
