I always thought of it like 0.99999etc was so infinitely close to 1 that there is actually nothing between them.

Made me think there might be an end to a decimal number. :patrice:

You implied it when you represented 1/3 as .33[inf]. You basically said an rational number is an irrational number.

Real numbers are numbers that can be found on the number line. This includes both the rational and irrational numbers.

But a rational number is not an irrational number and when adding the one cant simply ignore the irrational part. In essence 1/3 x 3 is not the same answer as .33inf × 3 by simple spplication of the rules of addition.

Not really.

It just means that it's impossible to cut anything into exact thirds unless the universe is analog.

Even though we have evidence that the universe is digital, I still say it's analog.
Beautifully stated, but how do you esplain the multiple phenomena of quanta. Our search for basic particles relies on a digital universe

What the fukk are numbers anyway, like really, who invented that shyt?

Could a world be possible without numbers?

:mindblown:
Nature seems to have invented numbers within its conservation of energy paradigm, in fact in locality and causality numbers have to exist as a matter of teleological necessity.

Everywhere...You never there.
real thread. .. :whew: ... just shows that across disciplines, you can never fully control for the measure of relativity that arises from imprecision.

I believe that during our transitions, it'll all crystallize... At the speed of light.

No. There's no difference between "infinitely close to 1" and "1".

They are literally just different ways to write the exact same number. Mathematically they are equal. Not "almost equal", not "infinitely close to equal", but the exact same number.

Saying they're different is like saying that 1/4 and .25 are different.
