I'm not stroking my own ego. This place is becoming shyt. Am I'm supposed to treat these Pseudo-Peddlers with some sort of equality in terms of knowledge?
These people don't want to discuss, learn or inquire. They want to troll or seem like they know some "hidden truth". The entire board has become like that and no one calls them out for it.
I don't see that here. I see people that were genuinely interested in the question. sure leyet came in here rubbing his crystals, but that's expected
The uneducated people are checking in and bragging about being uneducated.
The truth is that this concept being presented is thousands of years old, the geometric conceptualizing of this premises can date back to the 2500 years ago, and the proof and theory behind this is several hundred years old.
A bunch of smart dumb motherfukkers who think they are challenging mathematics and being "philosophical" and call me a "geek" for understanding something you learn in middle school.
A bunch of a$$holes who got their math PhD from listening to Foxy Brown's verse on Affirmative Action
I know from your prior post that you're not a dumb guy. You're gonna sit here and tell me people are uneducated because they are unfamiliar with this particular concept Uneducated about the subject, sure, but to make that accusation in general would be irresponsible and quite frankly, unwarranted speculation.
I also did not learn anything like this in Middle School. Earlier someone posted that this would be known would a Trig or Calculus class, well my middle school wasn't that far ahead Sorry I didn't learn mathematical theories in 7th grade. I took geometry and algebra type shyt.
The fact of the matter is, just because a concept is second nature to you, doesn't mean it should be that way to the rest of the population, especially a mathematical concept. I called you a geek cause you're acting like certain mathematical concepts are common knowledge, which they are not. If you're strong in one area, trust, your weak in another one, so don't act like a know it all.

what do you do for a living?
I'm a Senior in a STEM program. I do freelance work on websites while receiving the GI Bill.
So If I pull out some rudimentary collections in Java and ask you how to iterate over them in parallel for speed and readability...shouldn't be a problem right?
Because I do it everyday and it takes 5 mins
Agreed. anyone who has completed a year of algebra understands this concept
proof
x = .9999999......
10x = 9.99999999......
10x - x = 9.99999..... - .999999
9x = 9
x = 1
No, x does not equal 1.
Yes, I've taken proofs. Yes, I've seen this proof before.
Yes, I understand the concept that a decimal of 0.999~ is very close to 1.
But we both know that x does not equal 1.
There are more complex proofs, but that is a pretty good one.
The most important thing, and what pisses off some math majors, is what we can apply this too in our physical world. Knowledge of math, and the theory is very important, but the application of it is what matters to an extent.
For example. One hour. One whole unit. It is 60 minutes. 1/3 of that is 20 minutes, Therefore 1/3+1/3+1/3= 20+20+20 = 60 minutes =1 hour.
In Physics, especially with small angle approximation (pendulums, torque) and EMF, approximations are used extensively and work. If they didn't work, we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are now in our technological advancement.
Pi is irrational but approximating still works.
