It's like about a year before the PG era came around and in some ways it's a forgotten period. I think a lot of people were already tired of Cena's push but 2007 was when he was really coming into his own as a wrestler. He had a great set of matches with Umaga, Michaels, Lashley, etc. a lot of different types of matches.
Umaga was a great wrestler for as long as I can remember. Tough, hard nosed style but also athletic for his size. Cena vs. monster typically ended up being good and Umaga was like the perfect match for him.
Umaga is underrated. RIP
