dudes keep bringing up rust like he fought an active contender, Lopez been washed since tall tees were still popular and he's been a 1 fight a year fighter for like the past 4 years. Boxing fans really wired different when it comes to copping pleas

:mjlol:Lopez had his one fight and now it's time to relax. The last time he fought twice in one year is 2014. The mufukka barely fights.

The problem with this board is it's very hard to have objective conversations, because you have "stans" & "thurman sets," or whatever the fukk teams on here that see what they want to see.

Let's just hope Thurman doesn't take the rest of the year off with another "injury."

What was Thurman's purse for this? If he's a frugal guy, he may be content and just get ready for 2020.

I actually like Keith Thurman, but ring rust is no excuse in this era IMO. It's become part of the game. You have to find a way to work through it.

Just think about it. Every time we watch guys box at the elite level, we literally have to watch them work the rust off at the beginning of the fight.
Why? Because these guys only fight once, maybe twice a year anyway. This is actually considered "active" nowadays, which is just a joke.:mjlol:

Errol Spence is an "active" fighter, but yet he only got in 9 rounds of work last year.

Yeah I know Keith was out a couple of years, but as mentioned earlier, it isn't like Lopez is an active fighter himself.

The way he was body punching against Broner is what makes me think he will give Thurman problems. I'd have to see how each reacts to the others power first but yeah Pac running thru the pbc nikkas would not surprise me at all. Would have some interesting discussions of where he ranks all time if he were to do it. :wow:

i mean shyt he starts taking zeros of this generation of welters at this stage...dude would have a top 20 career of all time easy

The fact we are even contemplating this makes me think about how bad a PRIME Manny would beat these guys
2 year ago most of us were saying it was zero chance in hell Manny would ever fight any of these dudes. now not only are they being talked about as real bouts but ppl really see paths for Manny to win :dwillhuh:

It will be interesting to see if DAZN keeps making it's fighters like Canelo and Farmer fight so often. Top Rank seems to be pumping out regular dates for Crawford too
Economically these dudes who fight once a year may peep other fighters getting paid 2-3x times more just off dates

It should be noted that I was also looking at the 7th round like :picard:

I’m excited to watch Spence and he’s an exciting prospect for the future of boxing, maybe he will catapult to be the next big thing for the casual fan - I hope he has a great career, I would tune in for it all, there’s something special about the way he throws punches but he’s not proven and vetted like Thurman is against elites of the division. Show respect, anything else is unbecoming
Right. I was the on the Mayweather boxing channel a few months back they did comparisons like always and they Did Spence vs Tito. Which yeah paper I can’t aegue it would be an intriguing matchup; but some fighters in the gym were leaning towards Spence , easily for that matter. You already comparing a boxing legend to a guy who has crazy potential but his best win was a damaged Kell Brook:mindblown:

Yo be fair though Keith was out because of injury as opposed to just not scheduling a fight. So it’s not as though he was training.

Injuries are part of the game. None of these guys really go into a fight 100%.

In all honesty, guys have tough fights with inferior fighters all the time. Thurman isn’t some push over, because he had a tough time after a 2 yr lay-off. I do think he needs to be extremely careful with his matchmaking until he feels right.

Not comparing Thurman to Michael Jordan who's the GOAT but he had a 2+ year layoff & came back to b'ball. Thurman was injured on top of it. How long did it take for MJ to get his timing & everything back? Sparring & training are 2 separate beasts just like practice in b'ball. Now if Thurman has a struggle "get back" fight this year against someone like Lopez then I think he should be criticized. That wasn't the real Keith Thurman in that ring. He didn't look nearly as sharp like he was against Porter & Garcia.

I don’t really care.
