The way he can generate power from short distances is just :picard: :whew:
the calisthenics and workouts he does..he actively works to maintain his punch delivery system...strengthen fingers, wrists, forearms, shoulders, back..him and GGG were similar in doing this...the con with that is thats where some of his injuries have come from

Callum had a nice winning streak since moving up to 175. So it looks like that created the opportunity for this fight
His 175 "run" is overhyped af though

He knocked out two guys who were fringe contenders. Rivera hasn't been stopped before so I guess good on Smith but regardless neither he nor Bauderlique (never even fought outside France before the Smith fight) were really that good.
I think it's just a part of the UK fanbase would like to think they have someone in Smith who can pose a legit threat to the likes of Beterbiev and Bivol.
I'm not a believer, I've seen Smith going into survival mode against Canelo after the opening round, I've seen him receiving a gift against John Ryder, don't see him beating Beterbiev w/e how many times it gets repeated that he looked good at 175 against the kind of guys he fought there.

I wanted to ask. Do you think Anthony Yarde's performance against Beterbiev (although in a loss) made more fighters be less intimidated to face Beterbiev in the ring?

I hope Beterbiev destroys him...Smith is a quitter psychologically. Let that midget walk him down like that. Scust. Tommy Hearns must of laughed his ass off watching that fight.

Probably a bit less intimidating as it usually is the case when a contender puts up a better-than-expected fight.
It's a slippery slope for future Beterbiev opponents to gain hope from that though because Yarde was still stopped and his athletic power-punching style might have made it possible for him to remain competitive until he was stopped. Neither Smith nor Bivol have Yarde's explosiveness, athleticism though

Bivol does not need Yarde's explosiveness or athleticism lol

Against Beterbiev it would come handy for him cause he’s gonna get hit a lot of times
unless you get on your bike, beterbiev will touch you and most fighters cannot take his power especially round after round...on top of the fact he boxes at a fairly high level and his intangibles are crazy

Your'e right, but he isn't really a remarkable boxer technically compared to some others in his weight class, nice leaning over the front foot jab, good in close hooks, pressure, holds, power etc. He's adept at everything he needs to be, but even he will tell you that he's not brilliant. He can be hit flush, Yarde had him out on his feet at least twice before round 6 in the last fight. He can get got, and has been.

Let's see what McGirt has cooked up, Smith always had a sound defence and stamina. Not a bad fight. Team Beterbiev clearly cancelled the last scheduled fight due to bad preparation.

So you think the Beterbiev team postponed the fight because they weren't prepared, and not because of a dental/mouth surgery?

you dont like beterbiev because of his politics and you find different ways to slight dude every single time:heh:...a clear explanation for the postponement but bad preparation is the word for a guy with a known brutal workout regimen :dead:

yarde gave him a hard fight but he didnt have him out on his feet at any part of the fight..only callum johnson can say he had beterbiev out on his feet...and beterbiev got rid of him 2 rounds later..beterbiev has been dropped twice..and both guys were brutally ko'ed....boxers who were technically sound that fought him were brutally ko'ed...boxers with firepower in his division that fought him were brutally ko'ed.

smith is a good opponent and if beterbiev was easy work like that then beterbiev would not be the best victory on his record and george groves or john ryder would still be

:lolbron: Nah you bugging. I've never slighted his boxing, just his political allegiances (however he may not have a choice tbh.) I don't like the Saudi shyt either, these boxers got no morals, but it is what it is.

I watch all his fights, in fact I've watched them all, and many of his amateur fights.

Just because I don't respect his support of bigotry doesn't mean I don't respect his fighting prowess.

A six month lay off for a root canal, it's a bold call that's for sure. I'll just leave it at that. I study fight prep, I take what I can and apply it where I can. Smith's camp was exceptional, Artur was behind the eight ball comparatively to his usual prep. They're the A-Side, a Top Rank darling, they made the call.

Yarde definitely had him out on his feet, I can screen grab two of the moments if you really want? He was saved by the bell in one of them. But that's cool, to his credit he regathered himself and got back on track with that great lean forward jab. But it was 50/50, much like many of the fights at 175, thats what makes it a great weight class.

But no way am I going to cheerlead him just because of his ferocious approach in prep and in the ring, at the end of the day imo, the science eventually beats power, one way or another. Check out Mattias the other week, classic example.

Imo this will happen with Capitano Bigot one day or another. He's kinda basic in a way. :mjlit:
