Does he not know what optimistic means? :patrice:
Maybe, or he's just brutally honest:ehh:

We went into the season with Van Jefferson as our #2 receiver.

Calvin Austin III, Scotty Miller, Ben Skowronek, Trade for Mike Williams is the WR room. Not one's fearing that. Pat Feiermuth is cool, nothing special imo. Darnell Washington is 6'7 and they barely use him, where at the very least they could use him in the redzone. Connor Heyward and MyCole Pruitt see snaps at TE. Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, Cordarrelle Patterson at RB. Couple that with playcalling being suspect and I can see why he's not optimistic:manny:

So then why pay a guy who doesn’t raise the floor, also committing turnovers and just about average starting QB money? Move on.
Not to mention he's 36.

I also don't understand the Fields move, all of that and he's already a FA.

They need to burn it down and get in position to draft a real solution.

Steelers are in a tough spot because there's not going to be any alternative out there this offseason to improve at QB so they'll likely run it back. They probably have to decide whether they want to pay Russ ~$30M/year or pay Fields half of that.

:mjlol:Obviously, they're trying to coach Fields into being a starter, and Russell was signed to be a backup. Fields wasn't there yet this year so he had to be benched but the goal is for him to start.

Russell played well in the 2nd half, but he isn’t raising up the play of an offense at this point in his career. He’s not going to play much better than he did this year, so it’s better to move on.

Tomlin looked like a deer in the headlights last night. Not a good look going forward to the future. To his credit, Tomlin’s rah rah coaching style has worked for him, but for the first time I saw the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers look demoralized and powerless to stop what was happening. Tomlin’s halftime interview really said it all without saying much.

Pittsburgh needs to join the modern NFL and invest in an offense and an offensive minded head coach. If Tomlin was relieved of his duties tomorrow, I’m sure that quality candidates would line up for an opportunity for that job.

17 years is a long time and everything comes to end at some point. It’s time to make a change Pittsburgh.
