I detest Cody but even he’d be a better first match for Punk. Who’s DB gonna wrestle in his first match, Jungle Boy?
I get that Darby is over with the marks but a lot of people tuned in to see Punk after all these years.. they hear he’s gonna wrestle some twink named Darby Allen. They’re gonna be like what the fukk

To be objective, that’s what this “internet wrestling community” does with WWE as well.
Wrestling is supposed to be two guys who have an issue with each other and they settle it in the ring.
My only problem with Punk is that he cut a promo trying to appeal to the “smarks” breaking the 4th wall on “who he wants to work with”, not fight. Did he say that shyt in UFC? No.
Too much of what AEW is nikkas looking at the camera and winking that it’s a work.
That’s why there’s no wrestling boom. There’s NO suspension of disbelief. It’s either too outrageous and wacky… or too much “inside” bullshyt.
Can someone make me believe two nikkas hate each other and are gonna beat the shyt out of each other on TV? Smh

Hell I can give you literally 3 giant matches to prove my point:
One of the Punk vs Cena feuds (where he was leaving the E, he even literally says he has no problem with Cena and liked him)
One of the Rock vs Austin feuds (I forgot which Mania but that feud centered more on wanting to be the best, not out of hate for each other)
Hogan vs Rock (they didn’t hate each other, it was more about who was the real icon)
Also ROH literally used to have a Honor code where you shake hands before you start a match and also a lot of matches in NJPW are not about “hating each other and blood feuds” and it never ruins the vibe of the match.
I get we can like what we like, but the beauty of true pro wrestling is it doesn’t have to be “one way” and it definitely doesn’t need to be the way Vince see it or does it

Cant lie. Like Punk or hate him, dude knows how to work a crowd. While I'm not a big fan, I can't say breh isn't entertaining. When I saw he returned, I went straight to YouTube.
He could’ve said anything in Chicago after this hiatus and they would’ve eaten it up. His mic skills are always really good but this pop and reaction was more circumstance than substance.

I’ve brought this up before but that bit in Punk’s promo where had to leave because they made him sick, that was legit, look at this man’s last WWE promo. He looked like absolute shyt and didn’t look well at all. You could tell that he was out of it
