After watching Tanahashi vs Okada I feel like I should just give up and just go straight to the last third of any Okada match, the rest is just useless filler. He's late 2000's NOAH status.

Damn...... that Tanahashi vs Okada match was flames

So let me get this straight......

They are basically the Cena and Roman Reigns of NJPW?

Or are they the Steve Austin and Rock?

Trynna make sense of their feud and relation in regards to NJPW history

I really don't see the high praise for Tana vs Okada, this was probably their worst match since the "farewell" match they had before Okada left for his US excursion :patrice:

There is no good comparison to US wrestling. There is no parallel to Okada to be honest, any comparison you might throw doesn't really fit so it's hard to make an analogy for their feud. Maybe Bret vs Austin in terms of quality and importance to the promotion as a passing of the torch type of rivalry, but the circumstances and context makes both feuds completely different :heh:

As a standalone Tanahashi would be like John Cena if the WWE was in 1995 level of trouble in 2004 and then got out of the hole once he got a full green light push to the top.

Those ice packs been doing miracles for decades, they senzu bean status in puro :wow: I do wonder what promotion started using it first and when :ohhh: @stro?

I think it's been around forever, it was common in JWA stuff I've watched, and part of every 70s AJPW match I've seen. Along with the magical tonic getting dumped on someone after a match. Probably started with sumo or judo bouts.

They sold out Budokan :wow:

I demand a public apology from everyone who tried to defend the Wrestle Kingdom finish, there was no master plan, we moving along to another huge angle that has nothing to do with Naito :lolbron:

It's finally gonna happen and Budokan gonna lose their shyt tomorrow :wow:

How was Okada/Tanahashi aka the only match in A Block

A lot of people loved it, I thought the first 2/3 third were rendered useless do to bad selling and the last minutes being worked like it was a different match, which is becoming more and common in Okada matches :francis:
