Being in and out of the loop, why are the IWGP and the IC title always being defended together now?

They clearly didn't think that shyt through. Of course 2020 and Covid happened but I think Naito mentioned at one point that he had other plans with the IC title.

Let's not even get into the fact that WK is the perfect event to have the champion defend the IC title on Night 1 and the big belt on Night 2. That way they could have split the titles as easily as they put them together.

Okada/Ospreay was definitely not a spectacle on any level. It was the worst match they've had against each other, very mid tier performance from both men, and while English commentary was talking about how aggressive they were being, that didn't really come into play until the last couple of minutes when Okada went full Nakamura dikk mode. The rest of the match was just moseying along with an occasional spot but no overall connective tissue and certainly not anything you'd expect out of what was supposed to be some super personal top ten anime betrayal bullshyt.

Good call on Ibushi getting out of both nights with the belts. He's been ready for a while now so let him cook :salute:

Was curious for Okada vs Ospray and stopped after the 10 minute mark, holy shyt I just can't take New Japan "epics" no mo'. I'll take 15-20 minutes sprints over these overly stretched out matches that only get good for the final third any day of the week. I wanna see Ibushi's match with White but a 48 minute run time makes me go :mjcry: and :pacspit:

Okada diving over the top rope to the outside of the ring.
A sick table spot.
A tombstone on the apron.
A great sequence with a dropkick flawlessly countered into a powerbomb.
A top rope spanish fly.
Ospreay hitting a Rainmaker.

That plus a tons of other... you know... wrestling moves.

I don't understand the constant criticism of Okada's matches, a lot of things actually happen in his matches and his finishing sequences are the best in the world. Are we watching the same thing ?

He is a legit master of finishing sequences. Probably the GOAT at those. But over the years he became boring as shyt to watch for the first half or even two thirds of his matches. When someone says "nothing happened" even though a lot of moves were used it means the story that drives that match never goes forward, it's just "there" as both wrestlers trade moves up until the point were Okada decides to get into a long ass finishing sequence that's dope as fukk.

Trading moves is not always boring - and not a bad thing either - but at least 4 out of 5 Okada matches suffer from having a long stretch were the wait for the finishing sequence becomes :francis: rather than :ohhh: because the wait to the good parts is too damn long and not very compelling.

Of course, this is just my opinion but that is what I don't like about most of his "epics". Of course there's times were everything clicks, but I've found that to be exception and not the rule for him, at least in the last 4 years or so :yeshrug:

fukked around and got spoiled before I had a chance to watch it. Glad to see the right thing was finally done.

Just hope they split the titles sooner than later. IC title would’ve meant a lot for that Evil/Sanada match

Gedo did the right thing:obama: Ibushi will be a rightful transitional champion before the titles come back to their rightful owner, Okada two belts.
