Pretty much what the bruh who answered you first said. Haitians were heavily scrutinized and relegated to second class status when compared to the other Caribbean islands. The tide started to change once Zoes clicked up and simply said "fukk it." nikkas didn't back down by any means, but they were forced to realize that what went down in the 90s and prior wasn't gonna happen in the 2000s. It truly amazes me seeing how much the dynamic between the two groups have changed. The current influence of Zoe's in Hip-Hop/street culture was totally unexpected.

Another interesting thing is trying to explain this shyt to someone who is Black and from the Deep South, who has never heard of a 'Zoe' and too an even lesser extent can't point out Haiti on a map. They seem to always be befuddled by the fact that a lot of Zoe's don't identify as Black foremost (even down right offended at times).

I was up in Palm Beach County (born and raised). I feel like the root of the problem is the same, but that all three counties (Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade) all might have varying takes on it.
