There's no way in hell a Hollywood director is going to cast Rutina Wesley in a lead role, there is a set list of black people (male and female) that are seen as acceptable choices as leads and they have to work insanely hard to get to that point.

She's not an actress and never has. Why would casting directors take a chance on someone who is unproven in movies to play a lead role in a biopic? And I agree. I don't think Zoe was the best choice. Should have gotten Viola Davis. She is a familiar face and a two time Oscar nom(not that I put too much stock into those awards). So she would put butts in seats.

Let me guess, the relationship in question involves a white man? Regardless, I don't get why make a movie on Nina Simone of all people when you cant use her music. Ridiculous especially when her music is so intertwined with the civil rights era I don't see how they could overlook that in a movie.

BTW, I've always heard of Nina Simone and I remember my brother having her huge CD collection but I had never listened to her until a few years ago. If you have never listened to any of this women's music think Lauren Hill x 100. No one else can even come close.

I love her and I like Zoe Saldana. At first I was like ehhh, but now that I see them side by side, I could see her making it work. Fantasia, Viola Davis or Regina King might be better choices. Whoever plays her better put in work!
