Nothing wrong with her playin the role it was the fukkin make up
Out of curiosity..
Why was she appropriate for the role
I understand actors wanting to have the freedom of expression..
To play any character fictional/non..
And I also understand the slippery slope created..
When we only subject certain roles..
Going to certain races, ethnicities, etc..
But it was pretty damn clear..
She had no business playing Nina Simone..
Nina’s estate was against it..
And there are plenty of chocolate women..
That are phenomenal actresses to do the story justice..
All anybody has ever asked..
Especially black American actors..
Is the opportunity to tell our stories..
I’m not knocking anybody from the diaspora..
Not even knocking English actors..
I know how thecoli hates these arguments..
And try to dismiss any real conversations as..
ADOS propaganda and bigotry
But it’s some truth behind why a lot of black American actors..
Are being Heisman out of the way..
When it comes to these certain projects and stories..
I firmly believe..
If this pandemic/George Floyd/Breonna Taylor..
Trifecta didn’t happen..
Mrs. Saldana..
Wouldn’t have batted an eye..
She has been pretty damn defiant in the nature of her interviews...
I’m all for growth and realization..
But I can’t help but to be skeptical..
Of these sentiments in these videos..
