Naw homie you co-signed what reeka pride said about questioning if another poster was also outraged about will smith playing the nigerian doctor implying it was the same situation and you know it's not by what I've mentioned and others

No its not. The point is if the actor has to be the same ethnicity then Mandela, MLK, Idi Amin, etc were all botched.

I think we're confusing each other because you asked if people were upset about will smith playing the doctor as if it was an equal comparison and if that was what you were getting at it's not but what you just wrote you didn't imply from the post I was replying to

People were upset for a lot of reason with only 1 of them being valid though the amount of attention this has gotten is dumb.

Not trying to be right in this discussion but if that valid reason you're mentioning is similar to one of the reasons I've posted then I agree with you I haven't read all of the other people's post so can't say if any of them were valid or not but it seems we agree there is a valid reason for people's anger

Was Jennifer Hudson an actress when she played in "Dreamgirls'?

Was Whitney Houston an actress when she played in "The Bodyguard"?

I'm sure she married the white guy so her kids would be considered more conventionally attractive and not have to go through what she did.

Look a woman who looks like her today can't even play her in a movie but a lightskinned one who looks more like her daughter can. ..
No and they were both overrated.

Good, fukk all of these C00NS and Bedwenches that only want to be down with Black Americans when it's convenient. It's cool to embrace your heritage but muthafukkas claim they half-dominican or half native-america as if they're somehow better than Black Americans. Ya'll know what i'm talking about.

Either you in or you're out. Black people are in trouble, we don't have time for muthaphukkas that want to dabble in for the benefits and cool, but claim other shyt and disappear when times get hard.

Fukk all of em!!!
How is she "claiming" something that she IS?

Talib stealing my post :ohhh:

Best believe if Kerry Washington was Kerry Rodriguez people would suddenly have the same problem :mjlol:

Nope.

Kerry Washington shouldn't play her either though she is a better actress than Zoe.

Not everyone is obsessed with the fact that Zoe is a latina, she is a black woman.

Just not the right one for this role.

At the beginning of mean streets
If you're basing things solely off the fact that she was married to a white man then yes. . .

But let's be honest. David Oyewolo is a c00n.

Robert Johnson's daughter is a bed wench.

So most involved in this project seem to be enamored with white people.

No wonder they chose a lighter skinned person to portray a dark skinned one.

Seems to be their preference.
She's not even light skinned, she's just lighter than Nina. I think it's reaching a bit just like they had Zoe with the extra prosthetics and black face, it was unnecessary. Zoe has broad features just like Nina did. Look at her nose.

This is Zoe with her natural hair, before the straightening treatments, contouring, and lightning of her skin. I wouldn't even consider her light skin tbh. She's made questionable statements but she's Afro-Latina and doesn't deny it. She even admits she has Haitian roots. If Zoe denied being black completely there'd be a big problem, so I can appreciate that Zoe embraces her African heritage. I don't see a problem besides the black face and exaggeration of her features to portray Nina. It's disgusting. But Zoe is just as fit for that role as someone like Kerry Washington. It's like getting mad at an Ethiopian for playing a West African woman, would that really offend y'all?

And also what's being failed to be mentioned is the fact that Zoe was behind the film that's why it struggled to find distribution and financing. It's been in pre production hell since 2012.

:russell:Fake outrage.

Two things are at play here, black female insecurity and the AA superiority complex.

"Bu-bu-but she's not the same skin color as who her character's based on" neither was Denzel.
"Bu-bu-but black face" Nobody says shyt when AA actors darken up to play Africans.
