If you're basing things solely off the fact that she was married to a white man then yes. . .
But let's be honest. David Oyewolo is a c00n.
Robert Johnson's daughter is a bed wench.
So most involved in this project seem to be enamored with white people.
No wonder they chose a lighter skinned person to portray a dark skinned one.
Seems to be their preference.
She's not even light skinned, she's just lighter than Nina. I think it's reaching a bit just like they had Zoe with the extra prosthetics and black face, it was unnecessary. Zoe has broad features just like Nina did. Look at her nose.
This is Zoe with her natural hair, before the straightening treatments, contouring, and lightning of her skin. I wouldn't even consider her light skin tbh. She's made questionable statements but she's Afro-Latina and doesn't deny it. She even admits she has Haitian roots. If Zoe denied being black completely there'd be a big problem, so I can appreciate that Zoe embraces her African heritage. I don't see a problem besides the black face and exaggeration of her features to portray Nina. It's disgusting. But Zoe is just as fit for that role as someone like Kerry Washington. It's like getting mad at an Ethiopian for playing a West African woman, would that really offend y'all?
And also what's being failed to be mentioned is the fact that Zoe was behind the film that's why it struggled to find distribution and financing. It's been in pre production hell since 2012.
