I attributed it to Netflix, since they're over the entire thing. But yes, Casting was lead by a black woman.

Apparently she shares her name with another bw who was catching all the strays on Social Media, so she had to lock her shyt down and let ppl know she wasn't that casting director.

She has a point about standards of beauty being tilted towards whiteness. But she could have offered a better alternative choice than Leslie Jones. Unless you are supremely talented no one is casting an unattractive woman as a lead in a non comical role.

Anyway, I believe the lead actor is also the director so she gave herself the part.

Normally I agree colorism is a problem in Hollywood but this wasn't exactly a biopic. The entire story is a made-up Fictionalization. No part of was supposed to be historically accurate lol.

Bill Pickett for example was never an outlaw.

I agree with the response about purity tests attacking black projects. this had a black director black producers all-black cast. People need to chill.

Stagecoach Mary was beyond a badass. Beyond hard. Kind, but dangerous as hell.
And physically imposing.

I can’t reconcile the image of this kooky, frail actress with the accounts of this frontier legend. It’s movie goofiness.

How come no one is complaining about LaKeith Stanfield playing Cherokee Bill?

They could easily let someone who is mixed or native play cherokee bill. He had black ancestry and had black people in his gang so Lakieth could play one of them. With that being said wouldn't calling this out be the job of mix people or native people. Not why black people should fight others battles.not sure what one has to do with the other
