FYI long read.
I work in entertainment/tech I’ve started in 2022 at the end of the pandemic. As soon as I started I noticed there was a weird dynamic in the office and my department was kinda looked down upon and the guy that I ws supposed to be working with as a junior ended up having a bike accident and was out for almost a year. So I’m there trying to figure shyt out and they send a woman that used to have my position to tech me the ropes but I noticed she’s kinda bytchy doesn’t give a fukk about training me. A few weeks later, she come back and is trying to intimidate me and trying to say my job is shyt, I go to HR and a day later she gives me a bullshyt apology. Fast forward to a year later I’m the lead in the department and the dude that had the bike accident come back and work under me, we get along fine and he’s ok with it. Few months later they hire this white woman that works for another department but they want us to work together to facilitate things between departments and we ended up getting cool real quick and worked very collaboratively and getting a lot of shyt done. For a few months she’s been unhappy because her manager is incompetent and doesn’t really give her responsibilities and is always fukking with her and blaming her for her mistakes. She’s be threatening to quit a few times and I always talk her out of it. Fast forward to this week, we’re both working on a big project and right before it’s ready to leave I noticed she removed something that hat I prepared that was for a big client and went I confronted her about she star saying “I removed it because I needed it. Next day I come to the office still mad about what happened and talk to my manager and HR about it and she’s been playing victim and crying in the office about it and I noticed some of the women are giving me the side eye :gucci:

As far as actual advice, just don’t sexually harass anyone, blow up, or threaten anyone at work and you’ll be fine. They’re going to complain and gossip regardless of what you do, because that’s what they do. Doesn’t matter the job, who they work for, with, under, over, whatever, they’re going to complain and gossip cause that’s the way it is.

After a second read, this really ain’t office politics. You just have a crappy coworker and a crappy trainer. I wouldn’t have gone to HR just because someone made slick comments and acted like my job wasn’t shyt, that’s where you messed up, because now you’re making HR do something, you’re “the guy that went to HR and made a scene”. Everybody likely already knew your trainer was crap, but it’d have blown over once she was done with you. Now even though she knows you’ll go to HR if she tries something, you have a nemesis. You shouldn’t go to HR unless it’s something problematic that could result in some kind of disciplinary action needing to be taken either against you or someone else.

As far as your coworker deleting your stuff, you should have called her in a meeting with your manager first, before you went to HR.

So on further review, you actually made a few missteps here and escalated both of the situations, unnecessarily. Nobody likes a bad snitch, even snitches.

You’re going to be known-which it seems like you are already since you’re getting dirty looks- as the guy who’ll go to HR. That’s a problem because even HR hates dealing with problems. They just want to hire folks and process paperwork.

Bright side is, this sounds like this is your first job, so do your 2 or 2.5 years and get out of there. Starting end of 2022 means you’re one year down. In a few months, you’re in the clear to start looking for another job.

Yes and white knights will be ready to ride for them so ALWAYS document, time stamp and report bullshyt IMMEDIATELY because those bytches will spin things to make you the bad guy 100% of the time. Unfortunately you have to play the game their way to protect yourself. None of those men or women are your friends so don’t get blindsided when they reveal themselves.

Why are you letting her create a narrative?

Why are you letting her present/pass-off y’all collaborative work?
