That's not an argument I make but I do understand how it's always read that way. People have an emotionally abusive relationship with the genre, any critique is met with swift defense in spite of the content literally reveling in Black death.

The leading cause of death for Black males between the ages of 1-44 is homicide, while this is certainly not a function of music, my question is, why do we find content that literally promotes and celebrates Black death to be entertaining as so-called Black people?

There's nothing strange about Ja deciding to show off a gun while rapping along to a song where the artist is rapping about gun violence. There's nothing strange about him wearing the same costume as these rappers while doing so.

We're teaching Black boys and men that this is how they should behave and that's where the music and accompanying videos is responsible.
