The only "New school" powerhouse in southern hip hop is Baton Rouge. Atlanta kind of in its own tier, followed by Houston in its own tier. Memphis and New Orleans pretty much equal...

I wouldn’t call BR a powerhouse they have a hot regional scene and one of the biggest stars in rap in YB tho. If by new school powerhouse you mean emerging market I agree.
My Apple Music played a random Boosie song the other day where he was like “Check this out in Baton Rouge it gets real wicked and you can’t go Platinum here cuz this ain’t New York City”. Now YB has more Platinum plaques than anyone from his generation.
Atlanta is the big dog, the true powerhouse in hip-hop but has cooled off significantly in recent years as far as producing new talent and sounds, there is a waning influence.
Memphis is the hottest…New Orleans isn’t really a factor they haven’t broke an artist in a very long time.
Alabama has NoCap, Rylo Rodriguez, Flo Milli, Yung Bleu, Honeykomb Brazy, YBN Nahmir, Mooskii (Track star guy).
