I talked to some younger cats I know that seen it, that aren't old enough to remember NWA.

Three things happened after that discussion:

1. I bust out laughing at how ridiculous the movie was. Like the scene above.

2. I immediately lost all interest in watching it. The sheer amount of :duck:was too much for me.

3. I had to school them on what really happened.

Dre is a legend but a certified clown for this shyt. Especially for trying to make it seem like Eazy was broke. One of the biggest hoe moves in rap history.

Fred.

Especially as he was getting a percentage of everything Dre produced. Not forgetting that Bone Thugs money. I was in my early teens and this was common knowledge.

My Pops Forever RIP
Cube had A LOT to do with the way Eazy was portrayed. He's still salty at him for some dumb ass reason. The man is dead. Talking about in one interview that "he went light" on the way Eazy was portrayed. I'm like :wtf: and Tomika signed off on that shyt? :scust:

History is always told from the view of the victors....but this time, we were alive to know the truth and Cube and Dre were wrong for that shyt.

that Bone tape on Ez's deathbed..... I just hit the

as my wife was watching it. I dipped out midway too. Still haven't seen all of it.
If you’ve seen the Temptations miniseries that comes on all the time, Straight Outta Compton shouldn’t be much of a stretch.

First half of the movie, though not flawless, was VERY good. You have to allow some form of creative license with all biopics and in a way I was happy that Cube & Dre got to have a say so over how their legacies were portrayed. Thats always better than some white people having full creative control.

But the second half got silly as hell making Dre this superhero. NOBODY who is even a little familiar with Dr Dre and his history believed for one second that he was whooping nikkas asses in front of Suge while Suge was just like:ehh:

Also portraying Eazy as broke wasn’t cool at all. I even had to go back and recheck and ask Coli brehs for fact checks JUST to make sure I wasn’t crazy because i KNEW Eazy wasn’t broke when he died.

All in all its a good movie if you just aside your Hip Hop knowledge and look at it not like a biopic but a “Based on a true story” type of flick

Well Cube is a sucker for that too then.

Not only the money stuff, but showing Eazy getting jumped. Which is :dahell: because people from Ruthless and Death Row acknowledged had that happened in real life, people would've died behind it. Eazy was actually a street dude that just happened to rap.

It's still a good watch, if you watch it as a fantasy loosely based on true events.

I haven't seen it but from what was described to me Dre might as well have hopped on a dragon and flown away after he said :youngsabo: "Aftermath". Just a relentless, unprecedented amount of duck tales in the back half of the movie.

Fred.
