I will say, I'm not sure if it's a lack of imagination or what, but everyone questions censorship and no one questions where the line gets drawn in terms of misinformation and social media.Where does the line get drawn though? Even if you think anti-vaxxxers are stupid, we shouldn’t celebrate this level of censorship.
Anti-black white racists can go unchecked 24/7 though, and post their vitriol with little to no repercussion.
Yes, if censorship goes overboard, we can turn into 1984 or CCP as a worst case scenario... but is it possible that there is a worst case scenario for misinformation that we are hurtling towards unless we put measures into place? Is it possible that some censorship is a good thing a la post-Nazi Germany? They have seen the problems of misinformation in a way that the US never has.
We are living in a time where people are willingly dying because of misinformation and yet, the conversation drifts towards the opposite extreme, (which is currently a hypothetical) of mass censorship.
