I got a N64 in 98 Christmas. I was late to the party. I got a Saturn in 95. PSX in 96 and didnt get a N64 till 98. First game was NBA Live 99 with Antoine Walker on the cover. I used to kill 3 point shootout with Reggie Miller and Glen Rice.

The video I posted/the grip we used had all of that covered. Super comfortable. I was 10 when I got my N64 so maybe it would have been different if I was younger.


Bigger question is if y'all used the baby grip method, how would you ever press the L button

Because the individual games for the N64 weren’t designed to use both the L and the analogue stick within the same game. There was never a need to use both.

2D games like MK trilogy and K Instinct you would hold the controller on the outsides to use the dpad. 3D games like M64, SF64 you use the middle prong to use the analogue stick. The Z-trigger button would have the functionality of the L button, so to speak.
