@ahouse4all
My mom was a nanny for this little white blonde blue eyed baby and his very rich parents left him with my mom soooo much (paying hourly + over nights for weeks at a time) that he only spoke Spanish and only exclusively wanted to eat my mom's Mexican food.
[Quoted tweet]
what’s the most obscene display of wealth you have seen
2/81
@ahouse4all
Not speaking the same language as your child because you're paying someone else to raise it is so crazy lmao
3/81
@SoftPriestess
My parents weren’t rich BUT they didn’t give a fukk about me so my neighbor was my nanny — APPARENTLY I was fluent in Portuguese as a child . ?????????? Which I only found out at 25 . Bc I was like oh this is easy to understand & suddenly my mom told me ?????? The SHOCK I tell u
4/81
@cutietoryxo

5/81
@aletoowelll
i was poor but both my parents worked when i was little, and as a result my next door neighbor minded me a lot. she was polish and didn’t speak any english, and my parents only spoke spanish and not english so I was four years old speaking Polish to my poor parents who had no clue
6/81
@chfsrh
I was a private chef for 10 years and met many kids that were raised by nannie. Not a life I would want for my kids. I became a private chef so I could spent as much time with my kids as possible while still maintaining a career (which was important to me.)
7/81
@Sarah60573511
He wasn't wrong about the food!
8/81
@LilKittyZoey
I personally am more attached to my nanny than my actual parents

11/81
@Lil_Luna_IRLz
your mom did NOT tolerate unseasoned food, big W🥹
12/81
@Tradervikasg
i feel like this is so common in NYC. every time we visited new york we would always see nannies at the park speaking spanish to white/black/asian lil kids and the kids speaking it back. fluently at that.
13/81
@Gracebal0
That kid won’t give a damn about the parents when he grows up too, it’s how life plays out at the end.
14/81
@Emmmyalluu
I used to nanny part time, the husband tried cheating on his wife with me on several different occasions, would make comments like “I wish I married a tight, short, younger woman like yourself”
15/81
@MelissaEnchant
This sounds like the Chet Hanks episode of Atlanta.
16/81
@LoneStarRazor
Omg I have seen this exact thing and the family has 3 kids. The nanny is rarely ever off, even goes on vacation with them. When they do keep the kids at night, they get benedryl. Blew me away.
17/81
@iamumiyaawan
I saw a guy tear off like 3 sheets of paper towels to dry his hands...
18/81
@Otuosoro_Ranjo
He would grow up to care about the little things.
Whatever the case maybe, children needs their parebr.
This is why fathers who work 24/7 in the name of working age don't create time for their kids will never sit well with me.
Give the money a break sometimes.
19/81
@iamumiyaawan
When someone has double digit numbers of homes that they own and travel to that is too many.
10 mansion homes. = Obscene.

@hantoka2
Crazy stuff
21/81

24/81
@tabishali016
That's such a touching story. It’s incredible how love and care can bridge any gap, even language and cultural differences. Your mom’s warmth and the connection she built with that child really highlight the profound impact of nurturing and compassion.

28/81
@TheLynx_1
This end result is how you know you've wasted your life as a parent.
Their wealth and status won't comfort them on their deathbeds.

On a side note, this baby might become an actual bilingual & do much better later in life
32/81
@nicebigdog
he was so incredibly lucky to have your mom in his life, how much richer his life must have been
33/81
@GorillaLibrn
My cousin's little boy spent so much time with his Spanish-speaking nanny, that when school time rolled around, they wanted to put him into ESL.
34/81
@elizabethaustin
we knew somebody who had to carry around a Polish phrasebook so he could figure out what his son was saying
35/81
@muskratbaroness
There’s an episode of Atlanta with Chet Hanks where he spoke with a Trini accent bc he was raised by his Nanny.
36/81

In the contract agreement there should be something about preventing your child from being taught the nannies language and culture.
46/81
@bowling23
That's just sad
47/81
@iamumiyaawan
nanny culture will forever be f** up to me, as someone from a culture and socioeconomic level where its super common

@AltafKhanjhansi
Wow, that's quite a story! It sounds like your mom had a big impact on that little one, especially if he ended up speaking Spanish and loving Mexican food so much. It's amazing how caring for someone can shape their preferences and experiences. Your mom must have created a really special bond with the baby for him to feel so comfortable and at home with her. Have you ever had a chance to meet the little one and see the connection they share with your mom? It's heartwarming to hear stories of such strong connections and cultural influences.

This must have been quite a unique experience for both your mother and little boy. It is amazing how much cultural influences can affect a child's preferences and language development, especially when they live in a different environment for a long period of time.

@Aajad_jatt
With needy family members who are financially irresponsible, or chronically ask for money, I start complaining about my financial life. I embellish the truth and complain: “Hi Mom, I am short on money this month, can I have $100.00 or $200.00 to pay my rent?” I would do this about once every two months.Over time, the moochers quit asking me for money. Why? They only wanted to take my money, not give me any

Love you Mom

I once worked with my dad in a home that had two big screen TV's and video game systems for each kid. They were like 7 years old. Both had the same stuff. They bought the nanny a Tahoe. It was Brent Barry's siblings.
