No human in there to drive, just you and the car.

Do you get in?:lupe:

I’ve asked this question pretty often over the last 3-6 months and have gotten some interesting responses.

they would have to have all sorts of videos showing the robotaxi is able to handle any situation within reason.

It depends.

If I'm getting in the autonomous Uber in 2023, there's no way.

However, in another few years, I would be open to it as the technology progresses. At some point, this will be the default.

nah i don't like the autonomous vehicles because they don't behave as selfishly as i would. it would choose to save the most lives at the expense of those in the vehicle where as i would choose to save myself and anyone else in the vehicle with me.

This is why it’s an interesting discussion to me - in order for it to even be an option, let alone the default, you’d need to have buy-in from the public.

So far from my discussions I’m seeing like 10-15% of people saying yes they would

I agree with your point about buy-in. What is the age range of those you are asking? I can see younger generations waiting in queue for this since ride-sharing is normal to them.

As an example, my brother is six years younger than me, and his classmates were ordering Uber Eats in high school. When I was at the same school, we didn't have smartphones.

What is and is not normal is much more malleable nowadays, and I think it will become increasingly so over time.

It's the future. People already ride in remote controlled trains.

Obviously it's a more controlled path, but :manny:

Age range is mid 20s to late 30s, that’s who I mostly hang out with and work with.

I’ve asked older people like parents and relatives.

Who knows, maybe the average 19 year old would have no problem getting in :yeshrug:

They have to say ahead of time that it's autonomous, they can't just send one instead of a human-driven vehicle. They have some at airports to take you from parking lot to terminal, but you know when ordering it that there's no driver
