I'm curious to see how y'all all view AA. I'm Asian so obviously I am against it since it cuts into my ability to progress. I grew up without a dad in a shytty area, but it's funny how schools and employers didn't think I was underprivileged enough to diversify their companies. AA is all about numbers...

How does Affirmative Action affects your progress as an Asian? You want to know what the biggest impediment to your "progress" as an Asian? White Privilege. So yeah, let's talk about white privilege. Go to a CAC board and ask them how they feel about their white privilege and its impact on your abililty to "progress" as an Asian. If anything, Affirmative Action has helped your yellow ass but you ain't even know it.

Any action you take in life should be affirmative.

This clip from Archer..

Cheryl Tunt: You made that word up.
Rodney: They are all made up.
Cheryl: Mind. Blown!

I think most people have the wrong idea of how affirmative action is used by employers when it comes to hiring. It doesn't mean companies are forced to hire black people over everyone else. Just ask anyone in your HR Department and they'll break it down for you.

Yep. Too many people think it has to do with quotas and excluding qualified individuals for the less qualified, but the law isn't about that at all. AA has become a mental justification for the failures of unsuccessful white folks.

The core idea of the policy should be to make sure qualified individuals are not overlooked because of racial or gender preference.

I am for affirmative action until we can prove that there is not significant racial and gender bias in jury trials and employment decisions.

People against the policy act like affirmative action was just created out of thin air. Like some congressmen were bored and thought this shyt up.

It was absolutely necessary due to blatant outright discrimination against blacks and women from employers, admission committees, and labor unions.

OP, you mention that you were brought up in a 'shytty area'. I think many people mistakenly believe that this is why AA exists. This has nothing to do with affirmative action.

Affrimative action is a reaction against discrimination based on race or gender. It's purpose is not to make poorer people richer and expand access for poor people. It's purpose is to force an inherently racist and misogynist system to select qualified people who are not white males.

Perhaps this has become convoluted in practice. I think many people in charge of implementing affirmative action don't understand what they are supposed to be doing. But increasing opportunities for poor people is really a separate issue. Too often they are confused as the same thing.

don't white woman and asians benefit the most from AA?

White women are the biggest benefactors. Asians are discriminated against in AA. Most whites don't like hiring non-whites, including Asians and Blacks. With AA, they have to fulfill a quota of hiring blacks and hispanics, but not Asians.

The high majority of AA programs do not involve quotas or set asides at all.

Not sure if white troll....:leostare:
