if you North Indian you're basically a cacHypocrisy is a perfectly normal part of parenthood. I smoked cigarettes since I was 15, I quit on my 23rd birthday. Just because I did it myself doesn't mean I'm going to be all "hey son, I'm happy you took up a filthy habit that shortens your lifespan, go for it!" I'm going to be on his ass explicitly making it clear that I don't like what he's doing and he better quit smoking - and that's if he's an adult. If I catch him smoking underage like I was when I took it up, you better believe there's going to be hell to pay.
In the end you and me have a fundamental difference in our values. You regard homosexuality as some disgusting, degenerate perversion that is totally unacceptable, while I think it's not really all that bad. Conversely I think bringing home a white woman is totally unacceptable while you think it's not really all that bad. I think there's some cultural differences at play here as well. I'm Indian and in our culture it is very very significant if you bring home a woman to show your parents. Maybe its different for Americans. Homosexuality is a crime in India but honestly it doesn't bother me all that much because my experiences with gay people have been more positive than my experiences with whites.
