yea you're right and the sad thing is that if Del Toro can't get it made as "R" rated movie, nobody can at this point, Sad because its one of my favorite Lovecraft stories and I think Del Toro is perfect for it, but it might be dead...@kp404 the more time that passes the less likely it seems. shyt is approaching "Detox" status at this point. He was supposed to use "Pacific Rim" as a spring board to finance "At The Mountains Of Madness", instead this fool is talking about sequels.
Totally unrelated side note, Del Toro wanted to direct "Ozymandias". Rian Johnson hit him up like
Fred.

Then again, Anchorman 2 got made out of nowhere so there is a chance...
Yes I know, I was speaking more so in terms of movies being in limbo for a long time and all of a sudden the movie actually gets made...my point is that there's always a chance its get greenlit depending on what happens...if Crimson Peak is a success, then they may greenlight it; or Del Toro will lower the budget cost by hiring less expensive actors/crew or something..but there's a chance. But Anchorman 2 was less of a risk. I'm not saying he shouldn't get the chance to make the Lovecraft movie, but anytime I hear hollywood news guys talk about the stuff behind the scene with that movie, while they all want to see it, they understand why a studio is hesitant to make a rated R tentpole for the kind of budget the movie needs in order to be good. It's a really big risk for any studio regardless of how creative they want to be. I think it's a real pickle for him and any studio so I understand both sides of the argument. It only costs 50 mil to make Anchorman 2 which is pennies compared to how much it'd cost to do the movie he wants to do in the right way.

Yea butt you gotta haggle a bit...If I want to keep the effects, I have to cut the budget somewhere else; there are plenty of great rising actors that he can get, but the greedy corporations are gonna want a big star to lead the movie for more profit, so in the end, its just ridiculous capitalist bullshyt (as always) that's keeping this from being made...oh well, atleast Lovecraft was gracious enough to leave us with the actual storyI don't think the crew and actors are the issue, I think the effects is what gives it the big price tag and by all means, you gotta do what you gotta do to tell the story the right way. If he feels it can only be done with a 100 mil + budget, then go to it. Don't give out a half ass product just to get it made to say "hey I did it!"

If Pacific Rim would have performed better domestically, they would have greenlit the movie...but he needed the international box office (who we can't rely on for a Lovecraft movie) to save him in the end, so here we are...Well he knows the way the game is played breh: You want the studio to meet you halfway, it helps to have a big star attached already especially with a risky project. Helps them feel like it's less of a risk. He's playing the game the way it's supposed to be played
