No there is no nice way of telling someone they're gaining weight
Aight... I got an idea..how bout I just start asking her if she worked out today?
I'll tell her how great my (imaginary) workout was. And then ask about hers..
Maybe, but people's main motivation to work out is themselves. If she doesn't see a problem with herself she may not be motivated enough to keep working out

Call me sexist or w/e but something about a man having to be told to get in shape by his lady is just unsettling for me. Women get a pass with kids and society pushing them away from physical activity and all that but men have no excuse IMO

I was in shape and he was not. I'll say whatever I want because I'm fit so stay unsettled over there.

That's what I'm trying to avoid.
Push come to shove, if she invites me to workout with her I'll join her occasionally.
But I don't want necessarily want her cramping my workouts
