Finally caught up on this show and I’m in. So many scumbags on the screen at once with their own agendas.
I agree with the complaints regarding the writing; it’s not tight enough to be considered a top tier show, but since I’m not an expert in any of these fields, it’s not distractingly bad.
Black folks taking L’s left and right throughout this show. Desire crew seems weak af. I know she playing the long game but that clap back better make it all worthwhile.
Facts, but what about Lee? She’s the only one imo; she’s laying it all on the line to fight for Kofi’s justice with no payments or even gratitude from his kin.
Yeah I excluded Lee- she’s great (except for that wench shyt with evil judge - that’s sickening). All lawyers go through that moral crossroads at some point in their careers where you have to stand on principle in terms of moral representation or become susceptible to money and perks. I’ve quit a job where I knew the Partner was skimming funds and falsifying government documents- white man, white collar crime activities; there were 3 staff and his own secretary in that dept working for him that he was manipulating and pushing around to aid in his corruption. I caught wind of it, went to the head partner and told them I wasn’t comfortable with his actions, I knew what he was doing as far as inflating the financials, forgery and that I was leaving. The partner said that I was a “valuable” member of the firm, I wouldn’t need to work with him and they would deal with him internally. The partners transferred me to a different department and gave me my own office (at the time they put associates and paras in suite style cubicles) - that shyt didn’t feel right. Like to me, it seemed like it was their way of hushing me up bc they already knew what he was doing as far as the illegal activity. I got my resume together, worked with headhunters bc I had a feeling everything was going to shyt and I wanted no parts of it off gp.
Thankfully, I was able to move on to another employment situation bc I had plans to cold quit regardless and take the financial hit rather than to be caught up in that or committing fraud and off gp bc he was taking advantage. On my way out, I was telling people to leave, don’t stay there. They said I was exaggerating and being dramatic - I was like fuk it; I tried. Dude had janitors on paper making $75k talking about he needed them for a specialized field to get through loopholes
Dumb shyt. But with all that being said, not less than 2 yrs later, I learned through word of mouth, that the FBI did a sweep (think of Boiler Room, the movie), carting boxes out, warrants etc. A few months later, I got a call from my parents talking about 2 agents came by their house looking for me bc they had questions. Getting summoned to FBI headquarters (think “The Firm” movie), undisclosed locations at cafes and shyt lol smh. All I can say is that I CYA-ed all the way up, kept notes, email, forms to show that I had no parts of that conspiracy. meeting notes that I brought attention to the partners and the fact that I wasn’t working there anymore. My leaving dates coincide. I had nothing else to give them bc I wasn’t there. All of the conspirators pled out, the main partner ended up doing 7 yrs. 20 million scammed funds. sad part is the people under him, he used their desperation. So anyway, long story long is that I’ve seen this and other scenarios in this series play out on real time and it def has a spiral affect when unchecked; first time irl I’ve seen a white man catch the wrong end of a case though, thinking he was above it all. Satisfying feeling knowing he got what he deserved and good to know that my black coworkers listened and left out, or were excluded while the greed of those who stayed didn’t end well.
