The Beatles was a significant figure in music history. They are iconic much like Ali and Jordan are in sports.

If you are into music and do not know Paul McCartney, it's like a sports fan not knowing who Ali is. And that is also pretty common in young people today.

There are people in their 50s who grew up listening to the Rolling Stones who don't even know that the material in their early gigs was nothing but Bo Diddley,Chuck Berry and blues music.

The thing is....I'll bet the same persons who don't know who Paul McCartney is, probably know who the Beatles are.....they just don't know the names of the band members. We still hear a good amount of mentions for "The Beatles"......not so much for "Paul McCartney"/"Ringo Starr"/"John Lennon"/"George Harrison" (I actually had to google George )

I feel you but you're missing the point.....people out here don't know their history or don't care for it. All they see is what's going on right now. Parents in this generation still want to act like single people. Plus they are working more than any previous generation, so raising kids properly isn't a concern for them outside of paying bills and putting their kids in the latest clothes. Sad to say, but school does play a part of a child's upbringing, and all school does past 6th grade is train you for bullshyt standardized testing that is ineffective and can't be applied in real life. What happens to these kids, are that they are severely imbalanced people with no exposure to the arts to expand their mind outside of basic subjects. Artistic development through instruments and painting is also effective.
