Great story.... best believe he will be "watched" for the rest of his life. I agree with the other posters that he can work for himself and provide for others if he wants. Best believe he will also be given a lot of benefits to work for the system(free ivy league education, access to top tier occupational networks, ect.)so that he has little incentive to build with other intelligentsia of the diaspora.

I'm more afraid of the fact that with this gift, there'll be more risk against his well being if he doesn't "co-operate" with the powers that be.
