I'm sitting here thinking...she prob never heard the original song, and while she's young it still blows my mind at how casually ignorant this generation is about music compared to past ones. A young person in the 00s was generally familiar with 90s music. A young person in the 90s was generally familiar with 80s (or older) music. Largely due to parents, aunts, uncles, older siblings. There is no cultural exchange right now, music wise for Americans be they black or white. This isn't a good thing.
