Obligatory

@krackdagawd notice his feet are planted when he punches and it generates most of his power, I dont know why I see so many new boxers leave their back foot when punching and especially jabbing shyt annoys the shyt out of me :damn:

its almost like they are lunging :damn:

You sure about all this bossman? Feet planted=all power no ability to get a way. Punching from the balls of your feet=power(if you possess it)+escapability+movement

Another Gold Medal
low key i've always been a fan of the way Tyson threw the jab to the body....a lot of fighters throw it how Floyd does now but if you are the shorter guy Tyson's version will get you more success imo

Let's not compare this to Roy Jones :mjcry:

Compare what exactly? :jbhmm:

Mike teeing off on an inatimate object...to Roy facing a former world titlist at age 46 who was 11 years his junior?

You musta missed this fight 10 years ago

^^^^^^^
Mike at age 39

^^^^^^^
Roy at age 40

Did I specifically mention roy's latest opponent ? You really think Roy Jones can currently get even close to both that speed and power ? (Mike's a bit heavier so the power difference is natural, but I doubt Roy still gets that kind of strength off his pivot)

This thread isn't about jones tho so let's not derail it over an opinion.

Just posing the question since you brought it up in a thread that had nothing to do with Roy... what exactly would there be to compare between the two based on that video? :jbhmm:

Mike punching a heavybag v. Roy taking on pro boxers?

One guy has been knocking out pro's all year...while the other hasn't KO'd a pro boxer in about 12 years.

So the answer to the bolded would be an emphatic YES

shyt was a side remark :dahell: one former boxer vs one should be former boxer isn't that outlandish a comparison, the heavybag footage provides enough to see speed and power difference, obviously it's over a very short time but even in 20 seconds I don't think jones could showcase something remotely close to that. You can't call Jones' wins impressive this year, the only impressive recent opponent he's had he lost to in tragic fashion.

You think Mike couldn't do what jones currently does in the ring ?

Hell no. :rudy:

And we have nothing to go on that would suggest otherwise...at best, we can look at their wins/losses when they were at similar points at the tail end of their careers, and what type of opponents they were beating and losing to...like my post above...Roy to this day at age 46, has never lost to somebody as bad as Kevin Mcbride...and he was dominating guys like Lacy & Shieka who are levels above McBride at a older age than Mike was when he lost to McBride.

If he couldn't compete with the Kevin McBride's of the world at age 39... the fuk type of opponents would he'd be losing to at age 49?
