Al was mostly tired from working all day coming home to no food on his plate. They pretty much confirmed it in the episode where Al forced Peggy to her chores so he could relax and their roles got switched because he was lazing around getting turned on and she was getting burned out which killed her sex drive. @Supreme actually posted a gif from that episode above.
