As for the UK and the '4 countries within a country' nonsense that garbage had me when I 1st heard it, then I realized it's a self-esteem term to keep the Scots and Welsh from feeling too bad about being conquered. The UK of GB is the country that's in the Olympics, UN, etc.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is one autonomous nation.

England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland are "constituent countries", a BS term which, like I said, is used to acknowledge their separate pasts. The difference between a state in the US is bigger than the difference between a "country" in the UK.

Nah I dont think most nikkas like the op is describing would even know Wales is a country and not a rapper (although not pronounced the same). Let alone the idea that there's a diff between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland so Im sure they wouldnt know what the UK is.
