Well yeah, obviously...Eminem is the most successful rapper of all time basically and he doesn't even bother servicing records to urban radio anymore...these other dudes, i guess you can say is a matter of semantics...but using the standards we use for rappers we give a crap about, selling 28K first week ain't exactly considered big success...if Kendric for example, came out and did 28K like the Hoodie Allen kid, there'd be certainly no one talking about how much he succeeded...if we're talking about random no names with small niche fanbases, than yeah...there are no shortage

Mann, all these are white folks..of course its gonna be easy for them..:wtb:

white folks support their artist...

I get that. My point is they are claiming to be hip-hop and making money doing an artform that some folks believe that blacks still dictate what will be popular...

I wish more artists would do that, the record label model is old and outdated.

More dudes need to put out music and tour, you don't need a label to get your music heard because there are way more outlets that can showcase your music. How many times can we hear the same 808 beats and coke filled tales. Rap is boring now.

rap is boring now because all they will allow out is 808 beats, coke tales and tales about the bar/club, and a chick.

now a white person can come in and switch it up and get push from the label because other white people will not pigeon hold them to only one style of music.
but again. this isnt rap for the most part. its some alternative twist.

what i dont want to hear is a bunch of black kids trying to make WHITE kid friendly music just to move units online without a label or off line with one. i want people to make GOOOOOD music of different types.

It depends on the level of success you're talking about. For example, Eminem still needs an Urban market to do the numbers that he does. Although he's a Pop star, he still has an audience that are Hip Hop listeners (both Black and white). Him having that Rihanna feature on his biggest record to date allowed him to get play on Urban radio while also catering to Top 40.
