The logic is if you plan to go for 2 anyway, go for it on the first TD that way if you don't get it you still have a chance to tie the game by going for 2 on the second TD. If you do on the second TD then it's all or nothing win or lose. I'm all for going for it early as a safety net. Either way still a one score game.
