The AAU/mixtape generation is only in it for the clout and have no love for the game. They just wanna get likes and do the bare minimum.
Add in the NBA trying all kinds of gimmick stuff like in-season tournaments thinking more money will motivate them and make them play.

They could do a lot more to spice up the three-point contest too. Five racks is outdated, even with the two long balls added. They could add more long balls even deeper, force the players to change positions more often and go quicker between stations, even add step-back, fadeaway, or running shot situations.
Need at least a couple logo threes in there.
Imagine if some balls you had to pick up from inside the 3pt line, but shoot from outside the line (2013 Ray Allen style).
Other balls you have to pick up from the line, but shoot a stepback from 5 feet behind the line, and you're not allowed to travel.
Another ball that you have to shoot over a Giannis dummy with its arm raised.
Last ball you pick up at midcourt and can shoot from anywhere outside the line, but you're short on time.
