It's driveable. But, when it starts to overheat, your oil is toast. The longer you drive it in overheat mode, the more damage you are going to do to the engine. Rebuilding an engine is an arm and a leg.
Where is the radiator fluid leaking? Is it wet around the radiator cap, below the radiator?
I've replaced a radiator in two different cars. It's very easy. Nothing super mechanical like a timing belt change where you can really screw up the running of the car.
There are two hoses. One goes into the top of the radiator and there's another one exiting from the bottom. You just have to is drain the radiator, undo the hose fittings, pull off the hoses, unclip the radiator fan connector, unscrew the nuts/bolts that are holding the radiator, remove the radiator. Reverse is the installation process.
If you can drive it to a service place before it gets into the red, you don't need it towed. You could top it off and try to make the drive.
Check your hoses for leaking. There are only two.Is it driveable for a certain distance? im trying to find a mechanic 60 miles away from my destination.
Its leaking below the radiator basically around where the front tires are?
the radiator cap isnt wet, but there would be coolant splashed everywhere around the engine when I pop the hood open so im not sure where the leaking is initiating from.
